200 Amp Electrical Panel Upgrade Showing Completed Interior Subpanel Installation In The Basement Of A Single-Family Home In Raleigh, Nc

Project Overview

This electrical project was completed at a single-family home in Raleigh, North Carolina that was originally built in the 1970s. The existing 100-amp service equipment was replaced with a new 200-amp Siemens exterior panel and meter base installed on the left side of the home, and a subpanel was installed in the basement.

Project Details

The electrical work included replacement and installation of service equipment and corrective updates to existing wiring.

PROJECT EXECUTION

Work Process

The installation followed a three-step process to complete a 200 amp electrical panel upgrade and restore safe electrical service.

Site Evaluation and Utility Disconnect

The work started with an onsite estimate at the single-family home to review existing conditions and define the scope. Power was shut off by coordinating a disconnect through the energy company so the service equipment could be replaced.

Removal and Installation of New Equipment

The existing electrical panel was removed first. The new electrical panel was then installed, and the grounding work was completed as part of the replacement.

Grounding Adjustments, Reconnect, and Final Verification

A grounding connection was added for the home’s gas system because it was located next to the electrical panel, and grounding connections were tied into the grounding intersystem. The energy company completed the service connection, and the completed installation passed city inspection. The homeowner was not present during the work.
