How Outlet and Switch Work Gets Done Properly
Every outlet and switch job in Raleigh, NC starts with the circuit behind it. A new device on a damaged or overloaded circuit just moves the problem.
-
1
Circuit and Box Check
We turn off the circuit, open the box, and check the wire, the connections and the box itself. Burned, aluminum or undersized wiring is pointed out before anything is installed.
-
2
Install and Connect
The new outlet, GFCI or switch goes in with screw-terminal connections, the correct line and load wiring, and a tight mount to the box.
-
3
Test Every Device
Each outlet is checked for correct wiring and ground, each GFCI is tripped and reset, and each switch is run through its full range.

New outlets, GFCIs and switches in Raleigh, NC make a home safer, more convenient, and ready for how you actually use it.
-
GFCI Where It Counts
Bathrooms, kitchens, garages and outdoor outlets cut power in a fraction of a second when current leaks to ground.
-
No More Loose Plugs
Worn outlets that let plugs sag cause heat and arcing at the contacts; a new outlet grips the plug firmly.
-
Weatherproof Outdoors
Outdoor outlets get in-use covers that stay closed and keep rain out while something is plugged in.
-
Solid Connections
Wires go on the screw terminals, not the push-in backstabs that loosen over time.

Common Questions
Common questions from Raleigh homeowners about outlet, GFCI and switch work.
Speak directly with a licensed electrician in Raleigh — no call centers.
How much does it cost to install a GFCI outlet in Raleigh?
A GFCI outlet installed or replaced in an existing box is $65–$120. A standard outlet is $35–$65. A new outlet location that needs a new box and wire run is quoted after we see it.
Where do I need GFCI outlets?
Bathrooms, kitchens, garages, laundry areas, unfinished basements, crawl spaces and every outdoor outlet. If your home has none in those places, it is worth adding them, and replacements there must include it.
My GFCI will not reset. Is it broken?
Sometimes the GFCI itself has worn out, and sometimes it is doing its job and something on the circuit is leaking current to ground. We test both and tell you which one it is.
Can you replace two-prong outlets with three-prong ones?
Yes. Where a ground wire is present or can be run, you get a grounded outlet. Where it is not, code allows a GFCI outlet labeled "No Equipment Ground", which protects people even without a ground.
Do you install smart switches and dimmers?
Yes. Smart switches are $65–$75 and dimmers $65–$75. Many smart switches need a neutral wire in the box, so we check that first and tell you your options.
How long does it take?
About 15 to 30 minutes per outlet or switch swap, so several are usually done in one visit. New outlet locations take longer, depending on the wire run.
